The Golden Arrow District will hold its annual District Recognition Dinner on April __, 2012. At this dinner, several individuals will be honored by the GAD with the District Award of Merit.
If you wish to nominate someone for the District Award of Merit, such nomination must be submitted by December 31, 2010. The completed nomination forms should be submitted to either Jeff Hutchinson, the District Director, Charles Williams, the GAD Committee Chair, or B.J. Yother, the District Commissioner. Description of the Award:
The District Award of Merit is awarded by a District to registered Scouters for service to youth in the District. This is a Council-sponsored award that is the highest honor that a district can bestow upon one of its Scouters. Limited to one award for every 25 Units in the District or fraction thereof. The requirements are as follows:
The recipient receives a plaque, signed certificate, and official knot badge.
- A nominee must be a registered Scouter.
- A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting, outside Scouting, or both. The nature and value of "noteworthy service to youth" may consist of a single plan or decision that contributed vitally to the lives of large numbers of youth or it may have been given to a small group over an extended period of time.
- Consideration must be given to the nominee's Scouting position and the corresponding opportunity to render outstanding service beyond the expectations of that Scouting positions.
- The nominee's attitude toward and cooperation with the district, division, and/or council is to be taken into considerations.
- Nominations cannot be considered for posthumous awards.
