The Sam Houston Area Council held its annual Recognition Dinner on June 9, 2004. At this dinner, the Silver Beaver award was presented to 37 individuals. Of those, three were from the Golden Arrow District and are as follows:
Margaret R.
Coyne
Maggi Coyne has been an active Scouter for 19 years. She has server as a Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos Den Leader, and as a Pack and Troop Committee member. She has provided leadership to the Golden Arrow District by serving on the staff of the District First Aid Meet ad the District Training Team. Magi has taught and served on the Council Cub Scout Pow-Wow staff and taught at the University of Scouting. She is also a member of the Urban Camping Skill Training Team and currently serves as Advancement Chair for Troop 455.
Maggi received her Wood Badge beads from SR-356 and has been recognized with the Tiger Cub Group Coach Award, Cub Scout Den Leader Award, Webelos Den Leader Award, Den Leader Coach Award, Scouter's Training Award, and District Award of Merit.
Maggi is a member of the Caring Ministries of Bellaire United Methodist Church and along with her dog "Stormy" actively participates in the church's pet therapy program.Debbie
Jameson
Debbie Jameson has been an active Scouter for 12 years. She has served as a Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos Den Leader, and as a Pack Committee Member. She currently serves as a Troop Committee Member, Venturing Crew Advisor, Unit Commissioner, and member of the Golden Arrow District Committee. Debbie has provide leadership to the Golden Arrow District by Chairing the Friends of Scouting campaign, Merit Badge Fair, Popcorn Sales, District Scout Fair Participation and Ticket Sales, First Aid Meet, and District Junior Leadership Seminar.
Debbie has been recognized with the Cub Scout Den Leader Award, Webelos Den Leader Award, Cub Scouter Award, and District Award of Merit.
Debbie is an active member of Bellaire United Methodist Church and teaches Sunday school for 6th graders. She is active with the outreach ministry of her church, and has been recognized with the Methodist Adult Religious Award. Debbie has served on the board of the Bellaire Little League.W. D. (Dick)
Yale
Dick Yale earned the Eagle Rank in 1959 as a member of Troop 345 and has been an active Scouter in the Sam Houston Area Council for 15 years. He has served as a Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos Den Leader, and as Pack Committee Chair for Pack 55. He has served as Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster of Troop 55 in the Golden Arrow District. Dick is Currently Committee Chair for Crew 55.
Dick received his Wood Badge beads (SR-203) and has been recognized with the Cub Scout Den Leader Award, Webelos Den Leader Award, Scouter's Training Award, and Scoutmaster's Key. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and is a James E. West Fellow. Dick has served on three Wood Badge staffs.
Dick serves on the Vestry of the Church of St. John the Divine and has been recognized with the Episcopal St. George Award. He has served on the board of the West University Little League.The BSA, acting through the National Court of Honor and upon the nomination of the Sam Houston Area Council, may present the Silver Beaver Award to persons for their distinguished service to youth. The SHAC may make a limited number of nomination each year, according to the total number of units registered in the council.
This award is bestowed for noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth by registered adult volunteers. The award may not be applied for personally, only those persons who have been nominated by their Scouting peers are considered.
The recipient receives a plaque, signed certificate, official knot badge, and the medal shown below.
